Why do you need access to my Gmail?

We need read access to scan email headers (From, Subject, Date, List-Unsubscribe) to identify your subscriptions. We also need write access to move emails to Trash when you delete them. We never access email body content-only headers.

How is this free? What's the catch?

We display ads on our dashboard. That's it. We don't sell your data, ever. You're the user, not the product. Our ad-supported model means we make money from advertisers, not from selling your information.

How are you different from Unroll.me?

Unroll.me was caught selling user email data to companies like Uber in 2017. We've architected ByeMail to physically never access email content-we can't sell what we don't have. We only read headers, and our business model is advertising, not data brokering.

Can you read my personal emails?

No. We only request Gmail header access. Your email content never touches our servers. We literally can't read it even if we wanted to-our OAuth scopes don't include content access.

Can I undo an unsubscribe or recover deleted emails?

Yes. Deleted emails are moved to your Gmail Trash, where they stay for 30 days before permanent deletion. You can restore them anytime. For unsubscribes, most newsletters let you re-subscribe by visiting their website-ByeMail doesn't block future emails, it sends a standard unsubscribe request.

How long does the inbox scan take?

Most scans complete in 30–60 seconds. We scan up to 10,000 recent emails to identify subscription senders. Larger inboxes may take slightly longer. You'll see a progress indicator during the scan.

Is my Gmail account safe?

Completely safe. We use Google's official OAuth system-we never see your password. You can instantly revoke our access from your Google Account settings at any time. We physically cannot lock you out or change your password.

Does ByeMail work with Outlook or Yahoo?

Currently, ByeMail only supports Gmail and Google Workspace accounts. We're exploring support for other providers.

Service Description

ByeMail is a free service that helps you manage email subscriptions by:

•Scanning your inbox for subscription emails
•Executing one-click unsubscribes via HTTP (RFC 8058)
•Moving emails to Trash (reversible for 30 days)

Your Responsibilities

•You must have a valid Google/Gmail account
•You authorize us to access your email headers and manage emails on your behalf
•You understand that unsubscribe requests are best-effort; some senders may not honor them

Limitations

The service is provided "as is" without warranty. We are not responsible for:

•Emails that fail to unsubscribe due to sender non-compliance
•Accidental deletion of emails you wanted to keep
•Service interruptions or downtime

Advertising

ByeMail is a free service supported by advertising:

•Advertisements are provided by third-party networks (Google AdSense)
•We are not responsible for the content of advertisements displayed
•Clicking on ads may take you to third-party websites with their own terms and privacy policies
•You can manage advertising preferences via our cookie settings

Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms or Google's API Terms of Service.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
